I have an interesting problem with my 2.8 Fiero. After idling for maybe 10 min max, the manifolds turn a bright glowing red and are extremely hot!!
Is this a sign that the timing is off??
It has been hard to start lately when its cold as well...
MAybe its too lean...
ANy ideas???

The manifolds tend to glow around the welded flange
sometimes as the metal is fairly thin.
If they are really glowing you may have a vaccum leak somewhere. This should also cause a higher than normal idle. s/b about 800 rpm give or take (auto in D). Most likely a big leak would be in the tube from the egr to up under the plenum.
Timing off is another guess, although the 2.8 is not really known for stretching or jumpng timing chains. It might also make a hard to start situation.
I have a hard start now too, I put it down to a leaking injector which allows the fuel to drip thru during the night. My fuel consumption is pretty bad as well.

Don't know if you got your hot manifold fixed. Check the air filter. If it's wet and freezes, it will prevent air flow and run rich as hell until it cools down and the ice melts. Change oil regularly and make sure that the crankcase ventilation is working well.
