I have an undistiguishable (spl?) noise commin from the duke! It started on sat on the way to work....SO I have begun dissasebly and am pointing to the starter not truly dissengaging..

But I better start with the symptoms....weird "Paint can rattle" @ 1700 rpm...AND NO OTHER!!! I cannot reproduce it unless there is one on the gas, one in the "trunk"  It matters not if there is load on the driveline or not....
checked the torque converter bolts (where they attach to the flywheel ;P ), valve train and ALL my accessories...

any thoughts?

Heat shields?

Improperly secured exhaust system?

:insert random component name here:   Huh

All I can do given the description, is guess.  Best bet would be to put her back together, hold at the desired RPM, and probe about the engine compartment with a stethoscope.  Be sure to check from underneath as well as above!

After you isolate the area from which the noise is likely coming from, then start taking it apart.  Smiley

I need a starter (35 bucks), what is happening is....starter is not fully dis-engaging and kinda rubbing on the flywheel

one time, long....long ago in a galaxy far far away, some1 stripped one of my bolts and made the starter NOW have a bit of an angle to 'er

***whew***
