What Have You Done Since You Bought It?

How much have you done to / with your Fiero since buying it?
I was just making a list of the various things I have changed on my 2M6 since I bought it nearly 4 years ago, and it was longer than I remembered... Even more surprising, as my only workspace is the street outside my flat and it is my daily driver!
I'm sure there are probably other little bits that I've forgotten...
Renovations
- sunroof tracks
- sunroof seal
- headliner
- rebuilt headlight motors (courtesy of Rodney Dickman)
- headlight adjusters, trim rings, springs, uprated bulbs
- new discs all around
- re-built calipers on the back
- new calipers on the front
- new brake cables
- new KYB shocks on the front
- new dew wipes (from DIY_Stu on PFF - well worth it!)
Mods
- new seat covers
- colour coded interior
- added a Fiero high-level brake light
- after-market cold air induction kit
- side and tail lights (to comply fully with local legislation, including integral foglight)
- Ocelot exhaust
- cat bypass pipe
- Fiero rear spoiler, replacing luggage rack
- original 14" Tech alloys replaced by 15" Pontiac lace wheels
- oval dash speakers replaced w round mid-range and tweeters
- poly bushed, aftermarket dogbone
- poly bushes on the cradle
- poly bushes everywhere else (bought and ready to go on)
- stainless steel brake hoses (bought and ready to go on)
- new stereo and amp (bought and ready to go on)
- DIY adjustable coilover project finished and ready to install!
Jobs still on the drawing board
- new front springs
- new lowering ball joints
- power windows, locks, and mirrors (got all the bits - just need to get started)
- paint

I'm going to leave out maintenance/renovation-style things. It has been pretty much all standard Fiero stuff on both cars to date. Un-sticking the stuck, replacing the worn-out, etc...
For our 85, all of the significant driveability modifications are listed in my sig. Cosmetics and toys include a 87/8 "formula" front bumper, leather seats & upgraded headrest speakers, a head unit which makes the headrest speakers sound good and the OEM dash speakers sound as old as they are, added power locks, power mirrors, and the under-dash sub, and a keyless entry system.
Our 84 is un-touched save for replacing nearly everything 84-centric between the instrument panel and the tail lights with components from the 86 model year. It's currently parked so that we can focus on one car for a time...

Yes - I'll try to dig some out soon.
I've had it about 6 years now, sitting under a car cover on a friend's mother's farm. Not good and it will likely now need a full restoration by the time I can get around to doing something with it. Mechanically, however, it's still in pretty good shape, but the floor has had it...

Lets see I pulled my 86 SE out of a members drive way with a blown engine and partially stripped body and interior.
Stripped off every body panel to inspect and repair any rusted metal, replaced every brake line on the car including the e-brake cables.
Put the shell back together with parts I had from other stripped Fieros including another engine cradle.
Then did a complete series II 3800 SC/4T65E HD swap using my own designed mounts and brackets.
Drove the car to a local garage for a full safety inspection then an emissions test, got the new plates and then drove the car to Ottawa for a club get together where I did a stupid thing in a parking lot where I damaged one axle shaft.
Replaced the axle the next morning before driving the car back to Peterborough.
Not too much now that I think of it but after all this all took place in about three weeks. Sorry Gary. Dan

Yes, but the play was sooooo much funnier than the written review.
Fieros are not so happy with catching a bunch of air.

I was driving along nice and slow when all of a sudden a bump jumped up and grabbed the rear of the car and sent it bouncing back and forth some how damaging both the front and rear bumpers.
Still not quite sure how the front tires missed the bump. Dan

This should be a good exercise is memory.
To Date:
Northstar
automatic changed to manual
programed ECU
Koni shocks
stiffer springs
Poly bushings
kick-ass shift knob
battery tray up front (but I’m going to put it back in the rear)
replaced rear bumper with aluminum
adjustable sway bar links (to balance car)
cool stick-on front plate
Coming in the Near Future:
hot cams
valve springs
13” Corvette brakes
hydraulic e-brake
rims
exhaust from head to tips
3 core rad
pressurized overflow tank
ram air
rear coilovers
interior makeover
That should be about the end of it.

Aaron,
Why is the battery tray going back to the rear?
(I was planning to move mine up front so I'm curious).

Moving the battery up front is a good way to get better balance for the car. For instance moving the battery for me originally gave me perfect balance in the rear, but I was still light on the front right corner. So I have made adjustable sway bar links for the front and rear. This helps me to transfer additional weight from side to side.
Although it is better to have a natural weight balance, I find having the battery up front requires me to have an additional 10 lb of wire in the car and it’s an additional 20 minutes of maintenance to pull the battery out every winter (plus 20 to put it back in).
So it’s honestly for a moderate weight savings and convenience.
It also moderately (or we can say miniscule) reduces the rotational moment (batery in rear).
In short, yes it helps, but I’m lazy.
