I bought a set of Monroe Pads for the Jimmy at Crappy Tire.  In the old days (you knew that was coming), you opened the little cardboard box and the pads fell out.

Well, There was a cardboard sleeve over the box.  This was stuck and instead of sliding it off I had to rip it.  Do you know how hard it is to rip single layer cardboard?

Then the box has some sort of origami system to find the tabs to open it up. Finally succeeding, I find two big cardboard sheets with blah...blah...blah all over them (directions I assume)  Naturally, written in tiny lettering covering about a 1/4 of the sheet.

Discard the above, after all how hard could changing pads be? Women do it all the time.  At last here are the pads.  Not so fast!  They are mounted side by each in two layers (90* to each other) on another big sheet of cardboard.  This has been vacuum sealed in plastic by some evil disgruntled factory worker.

The plastic comes off in many pieces most of which cling stubbornly to the pads.

TA..DA!!!!!  After only 1 Pepsi, 1 Ibuprofen, 1 bandaid (damn box cutters), many new words added to the 'Dictionary of Colourful Loudspeak'  and I can start my job.

Any wonder mechanics are cranky SOB's.   Evil

All that work and no mention of using an angle grinder makes me think there is still some hope for Gary after all. Dan

Don't you just love that "reduced waste" packaging?   Roll Eyes  What took longer...  Installing the pads, or getting them out of the packaging?   Wink
