2.8 standard with a bit of a headwind and I was getting 21 imperial mpg on Friday. A bit better on the return trip. Not like the 3.8 when, on the worst day, I get 34 mpg.

On one trip to TO I got 60 mpg with a tailwind. I had to check my math as I was astonished as my gas guage did not move.

You must've bumped the brick off your go pedal for that one.  Wink

That can't be right.  I'm not going to explain why but you have to believe me, there is something wrong with the calculation.

Maybe if it was all down hill.......looks like it on the map.

With mine if I take it real easy I can average almost 50mpg. Thats if I stay completely out of the boost. Dan

100km/h at about 1,500 rpm light some what aerodynamic car. I also keep with traffic and quite often follow large trucks for even better savings. Now when I get bored and start having a little fun and use the boost milage drops quickly. Dan

Remember that those gallons are US NOT imperial gallons. You can add another 15% to those numbers.

I'm with Aaron on this one....! 60mpg??? I can't quite believe that calc. Most car companies would want to seek you out! There would be no need for 'Hybrid' cars' for the time being. And, going to TO, at what I would assume would be a VERY slow speed would be asking for death by the monster trucks moving at an average 120>130 kmh, 1 after another. I just keep up at 130.... let alone the TO to London venue where you have to be doing 140>160 to keep up.... mind you, I don't have a problem with this!!! Wink
And Dan, 1500rpm?Huh We are talking about Dan, 3800, close to Belleville, LEADFOOT, aerial parking lot Fiero....? Ha, how long would 1500rpm stand for??? My guess would be 15 sec....heheh! Cheesy
my .02,

I know the numbers but what you are saying is that you can drive all the way to TO and half way back on one tank of gas.  No way.

I had a tail wind only one way  Grin I drove on #7 highway past Perth @ under 80 kph.
The return trip I "opener up" in downtown Bellville and fuel mileage dropped like crazy.

I get 34MPG with my 2.5L going 112-115km/h @ 2500RPM
I find it very hard to believe that others are getting higher then this with a V6.  If the RPM is lower like Dan's 1500RPM @100kmh it might get the same number as mine giving the size of the engine he's got.  The way I calculate the milage is that I fill it up to the cap, then drive on the highway (I usually test this while going to Quebec City) and then fill back up to the cap and then I get exactly the gas I spent from the pump.  The only thing left to do is convert the km's into miles and liters into gallons.  I wonder how good the milage would be with an ecotech engine.  hummmm   Tongue

The rpm's is not the only advantage to the 3800SC, the important part is the sequential injection that makes the engine better on fuel as well as emissions. When not using boost you are running a fairly low compression fuel efficient engine.
As for the ecothech I am hoping to have one done by spring then I will find out next summer just how good it is. Dan
