Hi

Need help...  The fiero I just bought (87 GT), the instrument light doesn’t work.  I check the fuse, and the fuse is good, check with a test light in the fuse itself and there is no power at the fuse at all???  Any ideas....

Test the test light in another fuse to make sure it works. If the 'instrument light' you are talking about is for the gauges on the dash, check your dimmer switch, it may be in the 'off' position. You may have checked this first, but just in case.....that would be a nice easy fix.

I did more testing yesterday, I used the power from another fuse and the dash light are working, now i need to find out were the power is comming for the dash light fuse.  Looking at the instrument light diagram in the Haynes repair book, I need to find the Remote dimmer transistor? can someone help to locate that part.....

If you take off the lower instrument pod cover, you'll find the dimmer transistor fastened to the underside of the u-shaped member which supports the steering column, between the column & the center console.  It's about the size of a small box of matches, with an aluminum heat sink.

Thanks Don

Well, I played so much with the wire under the dash, that the instrument light came back on Huh.  There must be a broken wire somewhere.  I've put everything back and light are still working.  Smiley
