Title: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on October 11, 2005, 08:01:36 am 2.8 standard with a bit of a headwind and I was getting 21 imperial mpg on Friday. A bit better on the return trip. Not like the 3.8 when, on the worst day, I get 34 mpg.
Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: aaron88 on October 11, 2005, 11:29:21 am you really get 34 imp gal/mile?
Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on October 12, 2005, 11:13:12 am On one trip to TO I got 60 mpg with a tailwind. I had to check my math as I was astonished as my gas guage did not move.

You must've bumped the brick off your go pedal for that one. ;) Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: aaron88 on October 12, 2005, 12:17:03 pm On one trip to TO I got 60 mpg with a tailwind. I had to check my math as I was astonished as my gas guage did not move. That can't be right. I'm not going to explain why but you have to believe me, there is something wrong with the calculation. Maybe if it was all down hill.......looks like it on the map. Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: 2ML67 on October 12, 2005, 02:24:21 pm With mine if I take it real easy I can average almost 50mpg. Thats if I stay completely out of the boost. Dan
Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: aaron88 on October 12, 2005, 05:17:07 pm you get high fourty's? What's this world comming to? At least this number is technically posible, although very suspisious. You should be getting closer to 32.

Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: 2ML67 on October 12, 2005, 05:52:42 pm 100km/h at about 1,500 rpm light some what aerodynamic car. I also keep with traffic and quite often follow large trucks for even better savings. Now when I get bored and start having a little fun and use the boost milage drops quickly. Dan
Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on October 13, 2005, 07:54:00 am http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/gasmileage/ Remember that those gallons are US NOT imperial gallons. You can add another 15% to those numbers.Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: cowans on October 13, 2005, 08:42:54 am I'm with Aaron on this one....! 60mpg??? I can't quite believe that calc. Most car companies would want to seek you out! There would be no need for 'Hybrid' cars' for the time being. And, going to TO, at what I would assume would be a VERY slow speed would be asking for death by the monster trucks moving at an average 120>130 kmh, 1 after another. I just keep up at 130.... let alone the TO to London venue where you have to be doing 140>160 to keep up.... mind you, I don't have a problem with this!!! ;)
And Dan, 1500rpm???? We are talking about Dan, 3800, close to Belleville, LEADFOOT, aerial parking lot Fiero....? Ha, how long would 1500rpm stand for??? My guess would be 15 sec....heheh! :D my .02, Sandy Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: aaron88 on October 13, 2005, 11:44:33 am http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/gasmileage/ Remember that those gallons are US NOT imperial gallons. You can add another 15% to those numbers.I know the numbers but what you are saying is that you can drive all the way to TO and half way back on one tank of gas. No way. Aaron . Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on October 13, 2005, 12:08:05 pm I had a tail wind only one way ;D I drove on #7 highway past Perth @ under 80 kph.
The return trip I "opener up" in downtown Bellville and fuel mileage dropped like crazy. Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: JP_86_2M4 on October 16, 2005, 10:59:03 pm I get 34MPG with my 2.5L going 112-115km/h @ 2500RPM
I find it very hard to believe that others are getting higher then this with a V6. If the RPM is lower like Dan's 1500RPM @100kmh it might get the same number as mine giving the size of the engine he's got. The way I calculate the milage is that I fill it up to the cap, then drive on the highway (I usually test this while going to Quebec City) and then fill back up to the cap and then I get exactly the gas I spent from the pump. The only thing left to do is convert the km's into miles and liters into gallons. I wonder how good the milage would be with an ecotech engine. hummmm :P Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: 2ML67 on October 17, 2005, 09:34:05 am The rpm's is not the only advantage to the 3800SC, the important part is the sequential injection that makes the engine better on fuel as well as emissions. When not using boost you are running a fairly low compression fuel efficient engine.
As for the ecothech I am hoping to have one done by spring then I will find out next summer just how good it is. Dan Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: JP_86_2M4 on October 17, 2005, 09:31:40 pm WOOHOO!
cant wait to see that! I'ts gotta be cheap on gas yet powerful "enough" for "normal" driving... O0 Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: lacelles on October 19, 2005, 08:05:32 am Cool,
If I can do over 30mpg :o, that is alot better than my 2004Dodge1500HEMI at <18mpg :'( and if I pull my camper it goes down to 9mpg, but I still need the truck to pull).... Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: 2ML67 on October 19, 2005, 09:35:37 am You calculate for me. Last trip to Peterborough gas for high test was 1.07 per litre, trip was 276km. I filled right up on the way out then filled back up on way back. Cost $17 for 18.2 litres of fuel. Dan

Dan 15.2 km/L ~= 35.8 mpg (US) ~= 43 mpg (imperial) Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: 2ML67 on October 19, 2005, 04:05:47 pm The route I take is side highways not on the 401 at any times, the average speed limit is 80km/h I average around 90km/h. I also go through a coulpe of small towns where the speed limit drops and the route has a lot of large hills.
I find my milage is better on less hilly straighter routes like the 401 as long as I stay under 120km/h. Brian may have been exagerating some what but his point was that his 3800SC Fiero gets a lot better gas milage than his 2.8l 3.65 4 speed Fiero does. Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on October 31, 2005, 01:17:08 pm Brian may have been exagerating some what but his point was that his 3800SC Fiero gets a lot better gas milage than his 2.8l 3.65 4 speed Fiero does. I am serious when it come to CASH. BTW - was on 401 to Kemptville doing some spirited driving with the 2.8 and I could almost see the fuel guage drop 1/4 tank for a one way trip. Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: aaron88 on October 31, 2005, 02:34:53 pm Speaking about trips, how did it go Brian? I thought you might have gotten blown away or something.
Aaron . Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on November 01, 2005, 08:56:05 am Cuban trip was good. Reasonably priced, lots to eat and drink and cheekas. Went fishing, local style, for some of the small fish. As usual I brought down 15 toothbrushes and half a dozen toothpaste for the local school. Brought back 4 bottles of rum but a lot more security at both airports than usual. Had 3 good days of sun and one REALLY windy day. Rest was slightly to heavy overcast. Just caught the edge of the hurricane. Will have to go back soon, as Fidel is turning the single hotels into eye clinics for the Venesulans (surgery for oil) and consentrating the tourist in highdensity "tourist traps"

Title: Re: fuel milage on recent trip Post by: GoFast88 on November 02, 2005, 01:09:21 pm Typical commie. He gets more money from the Venesulans than from the tourists. A capitalist at heart eh :D If the locals are kept ignorant of what is happening in the word (by separating them from the tourists) and what's out in the world, then you won't get malcontents ??? trying to escape to Miami.
