secondly...suspension...is stock the best chioce? or should I think of the aftermarket? I wanna keep the vehicle as a daily driver----that carves!  Cool know what I mean?
lastly...has any one come across any reading material on turboing the 2.5? Smiley

I did come across something a long time ago about Turboing the 2.5L but to do that it would cost you more then it would to replace the engine with a 3.8 SuperCharged engine.   As for the change from Auto to Standard, you have to replace the tranny, cables, peddles, and a few other things, I thought about doing that with my 2.8L Auto but decided not to.

If you go to Penocks there is a guy names OSLO I think thats his name. He is currently setting up a turbo charged 2.5l Im sure he could help you out. There are several people around with Turbos.

if i were u aka i would do some research before i strapped a turbo on the duke cause i read somewhere that the duke has a weak block so if u squez too much power into it itll bust

the article said that if ure looking for more then a 25% upgrade in performance off of the 2.5 liter the best thing to do is just get a new engine

Converting to a standard is not that hard just time consuming, if you are also planning on swapping in a larger engine than I would find a 5 speed Muncie Getrag tranny. The Isuzu is weaker and you don't want a 4 speed if you plan on having any worth while top end. Problem is finding a good Getrag good luck and if going say 3800SC than flywheels and clutches become an expense to deal with.
My advice is stay with auto and convert to a 4 speed auto tranny. Bolt it up to a 1996 and up 3800SC spend some time doing it all right than after that just drive and enjoy making fools of the idiots out there that only think they are fast. Dan

Dan: if a person uses a 84 4 spd with a final drive of 3.32 he will not only have a faster top end that the fellow with the 87 5 spd Getrag with a final drive of 3.61, but will do it in 3 shifts not 4 (1 less shift)

Well...I was chatting with AKA and I threw across the idea of forced induction. I'm going to convert my Prelude as soon as I have cash and I think it would be practicle to use the knowledge I have gained to make his car faster!

How much boost can the Iron Duke take? On my A20A engine I'm running stock 9.1:1 compression and the engine can take 9-11 PSI before the ring landings blow (stock internals)!

Could you run stock internals on the Iron Duke with a fuel/ignition controller and perhaps pump it up with 9-10 PSI?

I was also thinking of having a turbo timer with a high/low setting so you could dave the engine during the day and run it on 4 PSI and then hit the botton when you NEED that extra 5 pounds!

I priced the turbo system out and I think I can make a VERY nice system with a 14PSI max for around 2.5grand! (adjust the wastgate so you only get 10 PSI MAX)

For 2.5 grand would there be a better way to go than just a few more numbers from the DUKE? I dont know how engine swaps work or are worth in the domestic world!

I managed to cut a lot of fuel managment cost out...you dont need fancy ass injectors....you need two really, really big ones mounted in the intake pipe....start the bitch rich and lean it out to find some power!

Don't forget that generally speaking, by the time you build your turbo system, and get all the bugs worked out, you've probably spent as much as it would cost to do an engine swap to something more powerful, with lower mileage.

A.K.A.'s duke has what...  ~170,000km on it?  If it were mine, I wouldn't even dream of designing a forced induction system for an otherwise stock engine with that kind of mileage.  My gut says that if you do it, you're gonna hurt something.

Food for thought...

Speaking from experience, unless you are out to prove something, do not waste money on the Duke.. Been there and done that. I had a mad fast duke... then I realized all I can do is keep up with a stok GT. (yep, raced the one I have now, then bough it!:P ). For less then the cost of a rebuild ect, you can get engines with over 250HP.

Just enjoy the good gas millage.
