I pulled my distributor to test it and now that its reinstalled  it leaks oil underneath. I read the Haynes manual on how its supposed to slide down and sit in its hole but it doesn't really explain the situation to well.

Anyone got a tip on how to get it properly seated? How do I know when its in place properly?

There's an 'O' ring on the shaft which may be old/damaged or out of position. This usually lets the oil past.
