Thanks Gary for the battery, we made it back with it!  No lights though.  It seems like there is a big short somewhere so it is parked till this snow melt.  I guess I won't be driving it in the winter.

I've been reading.  It may be your battery or the cables from it.  Evidently some of the alternators will refuse to work if they sense a low or no battery charge.

You should be able to upgrade to a CS 130 type alternator if you do go that route.  They are on lots of post 87 GM's  There is an article in the Ogre's cave for you to read.
