Thanks to Dan the interior of my car now looks respectable and driveable. Next thing to do is to get some real wheels on the it. Previous owner had 155/80R13 installed (rears are Wintertrac but at least there are no studs installed!). Have been driving it with these tires but it is a handfull to control depending on road surface. Any recommendations as to best size, type, etc of tire combination to install? Car is 84 notchback.

First things first, lose the 13" steelies. These days you're pretty much stuck with run-of-the-mill passenger/touring tires with rims that small. Once you hit 16" or larger, your rubber options increase dramatically.
Beyond that, what is "best" depends entirely upon you and what your intentions are for the car. Are you looking for a comfortable daily driver, an auto-x machine, something to carve a track with, a drag car... etc. ?

Looking for comfortable daily driver. With the stock 4 cyl. I won't be tearig up the tracks anywhere.

Find a set of 15" Fiero rims, I'm sure someone here has an extra set.
Put 205/60 on the front and 215/60(stock) or 225/55(better) on the rear.

If you can't find a set of 15" Fiero rims the rims off of Sunfire and Cavaliers also fit and come in 15" or 16" and are fairly cheap but plentifull at most wreckers. Dan
