Get up to Parham and I'm all psyched to bring "The Fiasco" (my wife's pet name for it) home.  My wife and I both took the day off in order to do this as the mechanic is going away for the weeking.

However.........

He felt it would be best if I left it with him a bit longer so that he can tune it and get some bugs out (it has sat for 13 years).   Cry

After a bit more work, he said I can borrow the dealers plates to get her home.  I'm thinking that I may as well have him do the muffler, swap the tires out, and fix the horn so that it can be certified as well.

The folks who sell FlowMaster says that they would prefer to have the car to install the muffler.  Is this really neccessary? Can't I just have them send the proper muffler to my mechanic for installation?

I don't see why not, unless by having someone other than them do the install voids a warranty.

The warranty would be voided (I'm not sure what the warranty is) and they said that they would prefer to do the install if pipes had to be bent.

I think I'll wait to hear from Dan regarding a stock muffler or maybe take a run to Canadian Tire for a "performance" muffler (not sure what brands they carry or if they are worth it even).

Glad to hear you're close to getting it on the road.

Re the rear brakes - any chance you will have your old calipers, I'm looking for the e-brake arms (levers) to see if I can modify them to fit on the Riviera calipers I have for my car?

Not sure whether CTC still knows what a stock muffler for a Fiero is; they seem to be slowly de-listing Fiero pieces, and if it can't be retrieved from their computer by year/make/model most parts counter staff doesn't know what to do.   Roll Eyes

For an aftermarket muffler, you'll want one with 1 7/8" inlets & outlets.  Can't remember the overall length, but you'll have less pain installing it if you can find one where the inlet & outlet as offset from each other.

I checked what I have is one 84 4 cyl exhaust with surface rust and a hollow cat complete from manifold including single tail pipe. Also have one muffler in better shape with the single tail pipe attached. They are here if needed. Dan

Not the brightest there.  I went to see about tires...they told me their computer wasn't showing any that fit.   Shocked

Sometimes the best solution is to just go to a muffler shop.  If they don't have it they can get it, and if they can't get it they can make another work.

The only difference between Fiero mufflers and others is the brackets welded on the sides for the spring mounting which can be added to a new muffler quite easily. Dan
