Title: Moved on looking for mt2 isuzu transmission now.
Post by: blue41 on September 30, 2015, 08:55:14 am
Hi guys. New to the forum and was hoping to find a 87 88 duke to freshen up to put into my 87 fiero. Currently having 300000 km on the motor with some noise in the bottem end i think its time to start looking. Possibly  mod a little for some fun. It would be nice to have for a winter project as i will have my own garage by then. No more working in the gravel drive. Thank you and i hope to hear from you. O0

Finished pulling the duke and now swapped over to 3400sfi but i dont think my carrier bearing is too vood in the trans. Hopefully i can find another one to rebuild on the side for the time being.  So if anyone has one could you please let me know.  Thanks once again guys.

As long as there is no big rush I can save the next duke I pull when doing a 3800SC swap

Why not go with the 2.8L V6? It would be a easy swap and be better cheaper than a modded duke. I will probably be pulling mine out in the spring. 120xxx original km's

Changing over to a 2.8 from a i4 would require ecm, wiring harness, y pipe exhaust coolant hose and one of the coolant runner. And im not shure what else.  I figured a freshen up duke would be a fast change over and least amount of down time. With the work involved with change to a v6 i was considering 3400 but for now im not ready for it. I m more looking into doing a rebuild for a project in my garage. Then drop it in see how well it works. though your suggestion is welcome and would appreciate you keeping me in the loop of your 2.8 maybe ill start that as another project.

Yes much better lol i  the process of cleaning n prep work. Oh and just to put it out there i know a place that have a few fieros sitting around. I believe there are 5 in total but 3 are badly rotten. But if anyone might want to take a trip the are at amel's auto on the 138 about 30min from cornwall.  I Asked about them before but he didn't know what he was going to do with them.

Hello. Thought i drop a line and say im still here since there isnt much movement here. I am still looking for a mt2 5 speed manual  from a 4l. I do have a 4t65e up for grab. It was from a 04 grand am with 95000km. So far i haven't  had much luck in the mt2 search. Wouxld like to stay with it for the gas mileage. Lmao this set up has been so much better on the mpg then my old tired duke. Hope to hear from you guys.
