Post by: Sentinel on January 31, 2003, 11:25:09 am
OK now here is your chance, I'm collecting a "Best Of OFC" CD compilation. I'm thinking, 4 CD set, 1st set "OFC Adreniline" 2 cd's(pending the response) The songs that get your heart pumpin, your foot gets heavy, and that speedometer disappears. The second is just the ones you would take if you were on a 10 hour drive,There are no limits on what you suggest, anything goes, list your Top 5 of each. All contributers will recieve the best of CD this summer, which will make a great little traveller for the various trips we plan.

(1 being the best song)

let's have em.......

The Eagles? You said no country music.  ;D

I'm old and can't pick favourites. My daughter always freaks when I sing everything that comes on the radio.  There must be thousands in my 'useless info' file in my brain.

Therefore, this is off the top of my head.  You did ask for this.  ::)

Old Rock -
Kingsmen -     Louie Louie
Jefferson Airplane    -       Somebody to Love
Steppenwolf    -    Born to be Wild
Strawberry Alarm Clock  -    Incense and Peppermints
Black Sabbath  -       Paranoid
                                Iron Man
Ted Nugent   -       Stranglehold
Rolling Stones   -      Gimme Shelter
                                 Sympathy for the Devil
Led Zepplin    -      Stairway to Heaven
                              Heartbreaker/LL Maid
Scorpions    -         Still Loving You
                              Always Somewhere
                              Blue
Santana      -         Soul  Sacrifice (Woodstock version)
Golden Earring    -     Radar Love
Blue Oyster Cult    -     Don't Fear The Reaper
Grace Slick   -           Face to the Wind

Bluesy -
CCR       -       Fortunate Son
George Thorogood       -         Bad to the Bone
REM       -          Orange Crush
David Lindley  -           Mercury Blues

Newer -
Rush        -          Spirit of Radio
                           Tom Sawyer
                           Time Stand Still
The Smiths    -       How Soon is Now
I Mother Earth   -         Summertime in The Void
Our Lady Peace    -            Starseed
Matthew Good Band  -              Ray Gun
                                                 Symbolistic White Walls
Linkin Park   -        In The End
                             Pushin Me Away
The Watchmen    -         Stereo
3  Doors Down     -        Loser
                                     Duck and Run
                                     Better Life
                                     Down Poison
                                     Life of My Own
Three Brain    -           Weeeee (how could we forget?)

Electronica -
Darude         (Most of his stuff)
Savagery      (from PFF, good stuff)

If you like Grace Slick in the Airplane (Somebody to Love) you might like 'Face to the Wind'  Great pipes and screamin guitars.  It's on the Dreams solo album.  She's older but can still wail.

Just for the record the Eagles are not Country, country music may of tried to lay claim to them 15 years after the fact but at the time it wasn't country.  Sure Don Henley really went Granola but in the fine words of Denis Leary:

"Don Henley, I got three words for you, Joe #%@& Walsh, OK!!!"

Looks like I have some listening to do on about 1/3 of yours song Gary
