Title: Guys, TONE IT DOWN!!!
Post by: 34FieroGT on August 28, 2003, 07:41:39 pm
I don't post must, but I've got to get this off my chest.

Instead of bashing Hondas (or any other make), why don't we show these guys how great Fiero owners are by being a tad more inviting and polite for that matter.  Fellow Fiero owners, you are becoming exactly what you hate most about ricers.  It's not just the riced up cars that get under our skin, but mainly the attitudes that go along with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to turn the other cheek.  Boot entered this forum on the wrong foot, that 'faggero' comment didn't make me any happier than the rest of you, but not one of you said "Dude, that's not cool".  Instead everyone jumped down his thoat.  I may be mistaken, but I believe that he apologized for that comment in one of the multiple threads that have popped up over the last couple of days.  So what if he's got a honda in his sig?  Are you that insecure that you won't let it be seen?

Everyone appreciates a bit of friendly banter and teasing, but this has gone overboard.  Take a step back and let's try to get back to the main purpose of this forum.

BTW:  I, for one, wouldn't mind a Fiero Club/Prelude Club get together.  Anyone else who feels differently just doesn't have to go.  Don't worry, I'm sure that we'll still have our "Fiero Only" GTGs.  I can't see why there isn't room for both.  It would definately give us a chance to show another car club how unique and cool our cars are, as well as dispelling a lot of myths floating around.  How many of you are tired of telling people that your Fiero is not going to spontaneously burst into flames?

That's it for now.  Never thought that I'd have to say this here, but I've got my flame suit on...

Hell I'm not going to flame you I fully agree. One of my best friends back in Peterborough actually he is the god father to my twin daughters has a done up Honda. We don't always agree on car stuff but we do respect each other's choice of vehicles. It is easier for me though because my supercharged Fiero can kick his supercharged Honda's butt no problem at all. Even with our differences we have been friends for over 15 years. In my opinion you treat me with respect and I will do the same to you no matter what you drive. Dan

I'm new here, since July. You veterans know in what direction you want to take this club. It is not the visions I had when I joined. I have been a fiero enthusiast since the 80', and have owned three since 90. Whether I'm a part of this club or not, I will still have a fiero in the driveway.

This has nothing to do with what someone drives. I don't look at a piece of machinery and say I hate it. It's just a means to get from point a to point b. I thought sticking up for the fiero was the right thing to do, I guess not. I'l keep my stubys off the keyboard I guess.

Okay, I got crapped on at their forum (maybe I deserved it in their opinion), but I don't see why we need to go down that road as well.

I love my car (or my parts pile) but I can respond to the obvious joy someone else has in their own particular flavour of motoring.  At a meet or show, I check out all the rides.  Besides it's embarrassing to look at all the running Fieros.

Some of these guys are a lot younger than most of us and are in that 'gangsta' mode still.  We were there once, different cars, different music, but we were there.  It comes under what your momma should have told you....If you have nothing nice to say....then........

There are times when some rude comments or other silliness abounds, but we all know it's in good humour (except for Eric's purple car).  It's the same on all boards that get along, the guys most involved are usually good friends jerking each other's chain for the audience.

The exceptions cause the trouble.  Anyone familiar with boards like redliners, which spin into constant retarded flame wars know it can't last.

In the end it comes down to one thing.

RESPECT GIVEN    =    RESPECT RECEIVED

It goes both ways, guys!  ;)

Peace!!!!!!!

Hello guys,  I am the webmaster and club admin/founder for ottawaprelude.ca.

I would like to appologize for Bootmachines 'actions'.  He has a temper (been dealing with it for a few years on the board now), but he means well, and also loves honda's to death, but moreso, he loves cars.  No need to bash him for that.

Anyways, lets be civil, and not go 'pissing in each others corn flakes' so to say.  I would like to see the car community in general become more of a 'community', where each person, no matter the make, or the country of manufacturing/design, can come together and just love cars.

I have experienced this with the MCO of ottawa, and would love for it to grow outside of motorsports and into the general tuner/car scene.  Anyways, I am trying to say, lets not judge a whole community by the actions of a few.

From what I can descipher from Bootmachines rants on our board, he was trying to ask you guys if you are interested in a group buy we are setting up with our sponsor TireTrends.com, on winter tires.  If you are intersted, let us know, the offer is still on the table.

Cheers, feel free to drop a line on our board - but keep it civil, I have no more patience for flame wars.

Keep it real, and keep on enjoying cars.

Tony

I agree with Tony completely aswell, and if anything like these types of actions occur again, the message as soon as I read it will be deleted and removed completely from the Forum.

Hear hear!

If you can't keep the bashing at a light-hearted & civil level, take it to a demolition derby where you can be a violent as you want.   :D

If it wasn't for variety (all those OTHER cars) we wouldn't have anything special, now, would we?
If EVERYone drove a fiero, the people on this board would no doubt have something, ANYthing else.  That is the kind of people who get these unique machines.   so............
Running down anything else is sort of questioning our OWN choices, isn't it?????
Live and let live and don't burn bridges.  You will get enough "help" doing that withOUT trying.........  :-\
my 2 cents.
