Post by: GoFast85 on July 14, 2003, 10:03:17 am
It's available for $900 obo.
Dan -  what kind of hp is it , 205, 225 or 250 hp. My records are contradictory. Recommendations on this motor for swap anyone?

$900? that's a good deal for all the car / parts needed. go for it. :)

(what shape is the engine in? )

Fully loaded, good mechanical condition, 230 K needs brakes. Wondering if it is a worthwhile swap or should I wait for a 1995 series 11 and spend another 2 grand plus

A 92 would be the weakest of the L67's. A little over 200 hp. This is what Eric and I have.  A nice upgrade from stock but not the road burner a newer motor will be.  It's a series I and with that mileage should be gone through ($$).

If your looking for serious go, wait for a Series II. Newer, less miles, more aftermarket and better design of the mark.

Decent price though for the whole package.  If it compression tests okay it would be a nice upgrade.

Gary is right it is just over 200 around 205hp and the series I were not built as strong as the series II so I would check it over closely and consider rebuilding costs. My basic rule is I will not use any engine for a swap with over 60,000km on it as I feel it is better to use a lower mileage motor and not have to worry about it.
Series I and II are both about the same amount of work so why not spend a little more now for a better set up. Not trying to start anything here just my opinion. Dan

In Eric's case he is rebuilding and modifying and in Gary's case the motor is recently rebuilt so both are good to use for swapping into Fiero's. I would recomend finding a series II with lower mileage if you are planning on keeping car and driving a lot. I just looked at a series II complete set up for $3500 today that comes with everything and only 45,000km on it.
Either way you choose if I can be of help feel free to ask. Dan
