Title: Toes is Froze
Post by: FieroBUZZ on December 23, 2008, 08:58:51 am
Geez!  The heat in the Taurus sucks.  Seems they are prone to heater core blockage.  I back flushed the core, changed the thermostat and got some heat.  Well some warm anyway.  Lasted about an hour and a half.

The rad hoses are hot (normally so) The heater inlet hose is hot, the outlet twice as warm as it was to start.  There is also a bypass hose that runs in the system to prevent the rear head to overheat if the heater core blocks (  :o )  It is hot as well. The gauge travels up to half of the normal range (it went a 1/4 of the way before the t stat change)

I had it out for 7 hours yesterday and no change or no overheating.  No heat inside    Fick!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the Taurus guys tell me that the vanes on the water pump rust off and the flow may be inadequate to provide heat.  Fords are weird    >:(

I bought a new w/p yesterday, but dang, Rudolf would freeze his goolies off out there.  Hope it's nicer tomorrow.

That's my rant for today!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!

Okay, flush number 2 today.  I am having hot flashes.  Comfy again........

Now if I could only fix a Fiero, I'd be super extified.   :-X

If you're having hot flashes after flushing a #2, you may have a few problems which extend beyond a blocked heater core!   ;)

Hi gary,
I had a similar problem on my P30 truck and it was the rad cap that was busted...  Worth a try approx 8$ at napa.
