Title: 2nd dog bone opinions
Post by: 2ML67 on November 24, 2006, 04:32:55 pm
Recently worked on a Fiero with a 3800SC mated to a 5speed which had a second dog bone with the same type piece made up on other strut tower for bolting to. I thought it looked good now unfortunately it is attached to the tranny by a long flat piece of aluminum. From what I see it would not add a lot of strength due to its design but it definetely looks good. I made up just the part on the strut tower so far and am looking for opinions. Dan

A second 'bone tied to the tranny certainly won't hurt; in fact it may extend the lifespan of the front tranny mount over the long term.

Tying the LH strut tower to the trunk wall however, may be of benefit in and of itself.  Give this thread (http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/077992.html) a read...

Never really looked at it that way but seeing as I used 1/8" steel to make the extra dog bone mount and heavily welded it that won't be a problem on this little car. May even do some thing similar with my red beast in the spring when I pull her back out. Dan
