Title: The Nova Post by: MacPhail on June 18, 2006, 08:19:57 pm Ok...had my first little competitive sprint while I was up in North Bay this weekend.
While approaching an intersection from a residential street and Highway 17, I spotted a nice looking Nova waiting at the lights to turn east onto the highway, so I pulled in behind him. He turned slow onto the highway and allowed me to swing out into the far lane to pull up along side. As I was almost even with him, he gunned her. She flew, but I was fast on the gas. Heard him squalk the tires shifting into second and that was when I slowly started to pass him. When all was said and done, I was ahead by half a car length before he let off. ^-^ Now THAT was fun! Cheers, Derek Title: Re: The Nova Post by: FieroBUZZ on June 18, 2006, 08:31:00 pm LOL, wait for the street racing legislation. Licence suspension, car crushed and gonads used to make Chinese herbal tea. >:D Did you talk to the guy?

Licence suspension, car crushed and gonads used to make Chinese herbal tea. >:D Did you talk to the guy? Nah. He turned off at the first set of lights unfortunately. Legislation. Blah. They still have to catch you first. ;) I was listening to CBC this afternoon and they were carrying a segment on street racing in Quebec City. The CBC reporter was with a guy who video tapes street races and then streams them on the Web from a US based server. I'll have to do a search to see if I can find the site. Anyway, the races seem to draw quite the crowd and last for about an hour (that is when the cops show up). One of the drivers was justifying their form of street racing saying that it is safe as participants don't drive under the influence and that people at the start and finish lines communicate with one another so that racers know if there are any problems that would pose a safety hazzard. While racing a guy on the highway is fun and I doubt I'd turn down the opportunity if (when) it presents itself again, I'd only do it if there wasn't anyone else on the roads. I don't like the idea of weaving in and out of traffic...that is what these street racers in Quebec City are doing at times. Who here is involved with Solo II racing or any other race clubs? I'd really like to learn how to handle my car and test (and improve) my skills. Cheers, Derek Title: Re: The Nova Post by: dguy on June 25, 2006, 03:00:51 pm Legislation. Blah.
