Title: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: dguy on August 05, 2004, 02:51:00 pm I'm working on a list of who I should talk to about mating an aluminum flywheel to the L67... am I missing anyone?
Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: aaron88 on August 05, 2004, 05:28:49 pm I'm not sure if any of them make flywheels.
I heard some bad things about Bully. But I don't know if they hold water. Aaron . Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: GSXRBOBBY on August 05, 2004, 07:56:42 pm Spec is making flywheels for Northstars for me and 7 other guys right now, but its been 4 months in the making.
Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: FieroBUZZ on August 05, 2004, 08:51:54 pm My clutch is a Bully Stage 2, of course it hasn't been and may never be used. They are the performance div of Ottawa Clutch. I got it through KVR Performance at almost half the price that Ottawa Clutch wanted (go figure). I don't know if they make flywheels, but I wasn't overly impressed by them.
I've heard good and bad about CF and some good stuff about SPEC. Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: GSXRBOBBY on August 05, 2004, 09:55:54 pm BTW, when we started having problems with Spec taking longer than I was hoping for I did get into contact with KFG flywheels and Ram, they both said they could have it done but Ram wanted more than 5 ordered to make up a custom flywheel for the Northstar.
Centerforce I know already has them made up, a friend of mine is building a SBC with a 5 speed Getrag as we speak, but he is having troulbe with the amount of throw, V-8 Archie told him today it maybe that he has an aftermarket throwout bearing and to get a GM Delco, so we'll see? Just to let you know. Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: dguy on August 06, 2004, 10:04:35 am Quote from: aaron88 I'm not sure if any of them make flywheels. Spec & Centerforce do. Bully & Ram appear not to. A sales rep from Spec told me that they have mated a number of aluminum flywheels to various 3800's in the past, but don't sell one "over the counter." This fellow recommended that I send them the original flexplate so that there would be no mistakes when matching up the bolt pattern, balancing, and ring gear. Still waiting for a reply from Centerforce... Quote from: FieroBUZZ I got it through KVR Performance at almost half the price that Ottawa Clutch wanted (go figure). Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: FieroBUZZ on August 06, 2004, 03:58:58 pm Once I decided to order it it was only a day (I think they're in stock at Ottawa Clutch)
I priced it at KVR and then went to OC. They had a nasty attitude and pretty much told to buy at full msrp or f* off. I think I paid about 420 vs 790.00 msrp at the time. The guys there though were NOT helpful and I wouldn't have bought it had there been a decent local alternative. (just to snub them) Your experience may vary.... ;D Title: Re: Aluminum flywheel manufacturers Post by: GSXRBOBBY on August 06, 2004, 09:22:01 pm If his name is David (Spec) he's a dipshit, I have been dealing with him for over 4 months now and I still have no flywheel.
Ram does make flywheels, they said they could have done it for me and I am about to take him up on his offer! DO NOT GO TO SPEC!!!!! |
