Phew. Now I can put her in to hibernation, before the M.T.O. starts flinging salt everywhere... :) Title: Re:Amazing the difference a functioning cat makes Post by: BootMachine on October 23, 2003, 04:10:48 pm WOW...big diff!

It's the one which Rodney Dickman (http://www.rodneydickman.com/) sells. (go to the "Engine" tab of his page, and look for Replacement Catalytic Converter (http://www.rodneydickman.com/n58.html). Including shipping & whatnot it worked out to about the same price as a high-flow stainless steel cat from local sources, plus extension pipes, plus hassle. A 20 minute install with a saws-all or other handy cutting tool to remove the old cat. The only thing I'm not entirely pleased with as far as Rodney's cat goes, is that the s/s clamps he includes. The extensions which mate up to the OEM exhaust are 2 1/8", but the clamps he sends are 2 1/4". Then again just try and find a 2 1/8" stainless steel muffler clamp. ::) I ended up spending another $4 at CTC for a pair of proper size mild steel clamps. Changing complete set up is much easier than changing one small piece. How do you like that logic (works for me). Dan
Title: Re:Amazing the difference a functioning cat makes Post by: aaron88 on October 24, 2003, 05:33:14 pm I disagree Dan
I think you went the hard way, because you used the auto that came with your motor. I think you generated all sorts of unnecessary electrical troubleshooting requirements. Besides with the northstar the cat isn’t even required (because I don’t feel like making it fit) and what could be easier than not putting the cat on at all. Aaron . Unless something has changed recently, you're still missing 1 pedal in the cockpit. :P Show me a tweaked L67 mated up to a 4-spd Muncie & 3.32 diff, then we'll talk. ::) |
