Title: 1997 GTP
Post by: 2ML67 on August 04, 2004, 04:19:10 pm
Was at wreckers in Peterborough this morning and found a 97 GTP. The car was modded with stereo and from what I can tell the engine has some work done. SC pulley is smaller than stock and it had custom exhaust on it. They only want $1,000 for the engine, if interested it is at King's autowreckers in Peterborough. They are good guys and If some one goes to buy it I can meet them there to save any taxes as they know me quite well. Dan

They also have the rest of the car there I only priced the engine. Can price the rest next time I am there, what all would you need. The harness is bad and I am not sure about the PCM but both can be found else where if needed. Is this going into a Cavalier or a Fiero? It has 150,000km on it and I do not about shipping the price was for me to buy and pay cash no taxes that way. Someone else will have to pay taxes especially if shipping it. Dan

Ended up going today, they have two the 97 GTP with 150,000km and a 98 GTP with 170,000km. Either one they want $1,800 for the engine, tranny, PCM and ignition module. They have everything for both except only one PCM.
Their number is 1-800-563-2423 its Kings auto wreckers, ask for Doug and tell him Dan McIlmoyle sent you there. Dan

That sure is a good price. Hell, I might even be interested in a spare for mine at that price!!

At that price I was thinking the same thing.
Brian got a good air filter system working using proper sizes and drawing in good cold air. Filter is in engine compartment not wheel well making filter changes easier. With engine running and hand over lower quarter vent piece can feel air flowing past quite freely. Even creating some suction when revving engine. Dan

That depends on how much of the work you can do your self. If you have a spot to do it I could help a bit with some. If you need me to do it at my home then I have to charge for it. Dan

Was in Peterborough yesterday so I took a good look at the 3800SC's. The 97 GTP one has a 3.25" pulley but stock manifolds so hopefully it has a cam or longer ratio rockers to run it. If so that is a really good deal at that price. Dan
