I'm building a motor for my car and I wanna shave a little meat off the pullys......just to see what happens!

Is there someone out there who will lend me the use of their lathe for an hour or so?

There is a lathe at my work but a few years ago someone smashed into it with something really heavy, so now it doesn’t turn about a good fixed point.  It wobbles a good 25 thou or so.  Therefore it’s no good for taking off small amounts of material or for refinishing material.

I don’t recommend you use it for your application.

But I should have a lathe of my own in a year or so.  You’re welcome to use that one

What did they hit it with???

A TANK!

That lathe is the biggest one I have ever seen...well..in real life anyway...

As if it does not work properly...thats sad....so expensive too! That lathe is SOOO nice!

Just did a little calculation....because I use metric...its only off by less then 1/2 a MM. Can I try it out anyway and see what happens?

I mean....by buddy did it with a vice and a grinder and his is OK...so this cant be that bad !!!  Grin

It really depends on what operation you want to do.  Some will be beter than others.

It's actually off by more than a half mm but not more than 1mm.

I'll be at the shop on Tuesday night.

1mm is ok too!

If it flies off the engine and smashes into a million pieces I have another one I can use anyway!

I would VERY MUCH appreciate your assistance with this small project....and also I want another look around your massive shop!!!  Grin

Sorry I didnt get back on here earlier....when is a good time for you?
